The city of Gonnos is the capital of the Darvel region. The city was planned from the beginning to be a strong fortress and useful trading centre for the region. The cities most defining feature is the large canal that was constructed to bisect the city. This canal is used to power sawmills and gristmills. Many farmers from the central plains sell their grain to merchants in the city, the city’s flour feeds most of the Darvel province. All of the trees taken from Darvel forests come to Gonnos, it is either processed into lumber for further expansion or rough logs are bound together and brought to across the plains by log carriages to the port city of Tenodos where they are bound into large rafts and sailed through Necros Lake and down the Brindle River to Brindleport. From their the lumber of the Darvel Pass is spread across the Empire to fuel its expansion and growth.
The city is ruled by several bureaucratic offices of the Covalt Consortium and all residents must pay a yearly fee to live in the city. Most of the populace are Consortium employees and work in the foundry, the gristmills or in the lumber yards. The town has a thriving marketplace where furs and other exotic goods from the Darvel province are traded.
